ABOUT US

Matt Anderson

Matt Anderson has over 20 years of experience as an industrial chemist and is an expert in the Hazardous Substances regulations.

He holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Chemistry and has a proven track record in operations management, health and safety leadership, and regulatory compliance. Before Anderson Studd, Matt subcontracted to Envirohaz Limited providing expert advice on hazardous substance compliance.

Prior to this, he served as a Senior Advisor for WorkSafe in hazardous substances certification and approvals. His career has been marked by significant contributions to enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring regulatory compliance across various industries. Matt works closely with businesses to help them navigate New Zealand’s complex regulations on hazardous substances.

His goal is to provide practical and accurate regulatory advice to ensure clients' sites are compliant, safe, and efficient. Matt is committed to helping businesses achieve compliance excellence and operational safety.

He brings a wealth of knowledge and a practical approach, making him a trusted advisor for managing hazardous substances.

Kate Studd

Kate Studd is a competent and pragmatic hazardous substances expert, with in-depth technical and regulatory understanding.

After completing a degree in Chemical and Process Engineering, Kate gained industrial experience at New Zealand’s largest pulp and paper mill and then at an oil and gas consultancy in London.

More recently she expanded her skillset with nearly 8 years at WorkSafe New Zealand. Firstly, as a Senior Advisor in the team responsible for hazardous substances certification and approvals, including compliance certifiers, and then in the major hazard facilities (MHF) inspectorate. As an inspector and leader in the MHF team she monitored and enforced the Health and Safety at Work regulations.

This career pathway and experience makes her a qualified advisor for any business looking to manage their risks around hazardous substances or considering entry into the MHF regime.

Her philosophy aligns with that of the Health and Safety at Work Act - businesses must understand and manage their risks – and will work with you and your team to ensure that health and safety is an integral and value-added part of your business.
